Definition and History of AI Development - Dr. Agus F. Abdillah., MBA, ERMAP
his course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and historical evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It explores how AI has developed from early rule-based systems to today’s advanced Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, and Autonomous Agents.
Students will gain a clear understanding of how AI systems work, how they differ from related fields such as Machine Learning and Large Language Models, and how AI technologies are integrated into everyday life—from recommendation systems and facial recognition to generative content and intelligent agents.
The program presents AI through a practical four-level framework: monitoring and pattern recognition, perception and analysis, content creation, and autonomous decision-making. Through real-world examples in communication, law, and management, students learn how AI enhances efficiency while human judgment remains essential for ethics, empathy, and strategic direction.
By the end of the course, students are expected to develop realistic expectations about AI’s capabilities and limitations, and to understand their role as responsible users and decision-makers in an AI-powered world.
